Welcome to this Flight Patterns newsletter. ☔
Before we begin, I have a quick survey (click the clipboard) > > >📋 about how this newsletter blesses you. Everyone who fills it out in the next week will get a 7 day comp subscription (paid subscription benefits for free) and one winner will get a 30 day comp subscription.
Hey y’all! Things have been a frenzy here as I’ve wrapped up my first year of college. I’m a humanities/visual arts major and many of my final projects were creative endeavors, which is why Flight Patterns has been, unfortunately, on the back burner. I have only so much energy in my brain!
Now it’s summer break. (Though I’m bundled up in a blanket drinking tea and listening to the rain, so it’s not quite summer weather.) I’ve been looking forward to coming back to Flight Patterns.
I want to welcome our new subscribers. 🎉 As usual, I seem to be eschewing a niche and attracting a wide variety of readers. Welcome, welcome, one and all.
In this newsletter, I’d like to catch y’all up on some stuff that you might have missed.
{highlights}
-petting zoo - this little chick was cold and thought my hair/hoodie made a great nest.
- finishing school and passing all my classes… it looked iffy for a minute and I almost flunked two of my classes 😱
- raiding a stash of ice cream from the commuter kitchen after the commuters had left (it would have gone bad) and sharing it with friends in my old dorm.
-my family and even my cats were happy to see me home.
-geting my tiny cabin set up and taking full advantage of bluetooth speakers.

the "magic fix" idea
Abracadabra! Shazam! Bippity-boppity-boo! We don’t put stock in magic words such as these, but we know that words, especially labels, can hold power over us. **content warning** mention of su*cide. Neurodivergent diagnoses and labels sometimes carry the potent of magic words. These can affect how we think about ourselves and what we share with others. This p…
Flight Patterns April Update
It’s spring, and that means more windows open to fresh air and birdsong, more flowers, and more smiles. April is our last month of school, so I’m in the middle of the “April push” where all our biggest assignments are due—two videos, a speech, three papers, several scripts, and in-class finals. It’s brutal, because all I want to do is play outside in the…
"but you’re so normal"
If you’ve missed the first two posts in this series, please allow me to fill you in. Because of the lack of information about neurodivergent artists, I’ve decided to share about my personal experience with neurodivegence. So far, I’ve discussed disorganization, forgetfulness, social awkwardness, and looking for a magic fix.
squirrels in the brain
Squirrel Disease. That’s what one of my ADHD friends calls his ADHD. And he’s not wrong. This is the fourth post in my series where I discuss my personal experience with neurodivergence. I’ve discussed disorganization, forgetfulness, social awkwardness, the search for a magic fix, getting a diagnosis, and handling other people’s ideas about me.

[upcoming changes] for the last two years, Flight Patterns has been mostly text/post based. However, as I have been learning photography, video, and audio editing skills, I’m expanding my content. I’ve started creating audio posts, and I’ve added a video to my about page. Hoping to see more videos? Follow on the new Flight Pattern Youtube Channel.
[summer plans] Many people have been asking my plans for the summer. The majority of my plans are to work my day job (and hopefully switch jobs,) write for Flight Patterns and guest posts, and get back in touch with my friends.
