In 2022, my word of the year was purpose. In 2023, I picked truth. Both words offered guidance and growth.
For 2024 I picked deep. Reflecting back, this word reveals the pride that was in my heart. I already thought I was better than those I saw as “shallow people.” Picking a word out of arrogance instead of humility was shooting myself in the foot.
For 2025, I considered several words for the year, including simplify, endure, and positive. I didn’t want to make the same mistake as last year, so I prayed and listened to what God was leading me to. The word patience began to stand out. I didn't particularly want it as my word of the year—I'm not a very patient person. If I picked patience, I knew that I would encounter situations to test my patience.
But after 2024, with the word deep picked out of judgement for others, I think it would be good to pick a word that's a hard one to live out, a convicting word, to take my own advice.
A little housekeeping: posts will be less frequent as I am reevaluating the direction I want this blog to take. Thank you for your patience. Currently all paid subscriptions are on pause, however if you want to leave a tip, you can leave one here.
I made new “patience” themed wallpapers. If you have a word of the year, let me know! I may make you a wallpaper as well.
